Matthew 1:1-16

1. Here He Comes!

o Matthew 1:1 This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:

o Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

2. The genealogy is so scandalous

o Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

3. The key word

o Matthew 4:16 the people living in darkness have seen a great light;

on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.
